U.S. Ambassador Louis B. Susman greeted newly-selected British Fulbright scholars, who are soon to depart for the United States, at a high-level reception for 250 hosted by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London on Thursday June 24th, 2010.

In his remarks Ambassador Susman noted:
“President Obama recently said:  ‘The relationship between our two countries is more than just an alliance of interests; it’s a kinship of ideals and it must be constantly renewed.’

“The Fulbright program really exemplifies that statement.   Since its inception, nearly 300,000 men and women from around the world have had their lives changed profoundly by the Fulbright Program.

“That’s a remarkable statistic, which can only grow larger as we move forward. We will, as always, look to the Fulbright students and fellows like yourselves to become the future leaders in both our countries. Once again, I congratulate you, and I look forward to the great things you will achieve in the future. “

Along with the 42 new British grantees and their families, guests included current American Fulbright scholars, alumni, sponsors and prominent supporters of the U.S.-UK Fulbright program.
