September 2015

  • Work continued on concreting the chancery floor slabs, we’ve almost reaching completion of this stage with just roof level to be prepared and poured.
  • Installation of the Curtain Wall continues between levels 4 and 7.  Both Mid-West and Pacific Forest gardens now have the internal curtain wall installed at the first level (photo).
  • Partitioning in the building continued up to Level 7 while Stair 1 and Stair 2 are now precast up to level 11.

August 2015

  • Curtain wall panel installation made good progress this week with works focusing on infilling of panels in the NE corner and the Level 5 panels on the east elevation (photo).
  • Preparation/ waterproofing of the upstands was completed in the Mid-West garden enabling the first couple of window panels to be installed.
  • Further progress was made on the installation of the architectural metal stair in the Gulf Coast garden between Level 5 and 6.

03 – 17 July 2015

  • Good progress continues on the curtain wall, with over 20% of panels now installed.
  • Metal decking installation begins at roof level.
  • Architectural metal stair between level 1 and 2 was completed, and the stair between 3 and 4 has made good progress.
  • North Elevation artwall steelwork erection begins, with East and West nearing completion.

30 June 2015

  • Progress on the curtain wall as more glass panels are added.

22 – 29 June 2015

First level 3 curtain wall panels were erected during the early part of this week.
Steel work is more or less complete, just a handful of beams to be placed in the core.
Steel fixings on level 10 have been complete to allow for the 1st concrete overlay to be poured.
Installation of the East and West art wall steelwork continues.

15 – 19 June 2015

  • Level 1 curtain wall complete with exception of areas where hoist and tower cranes are. Progress now continues on level 2.
  • Steel frame is nearing completion with the progress now on the final NE corner.
  • Preparation for concrete pours on level 10 started this week.
  • Consular CAC roof topping slab was concreted last week.

08 – 12 June 2015

  • First curtain wall panels hung on Level 2 of the chancery.
  • Chancery steal frame is nearing completion with the progress moving to the final NE corner of the roof.
  • Metal decking continued on the north side of level 11.
  • Partition work continues to progress well at levels 4 and 5.

01 – 05 June 2015

  • Installation of the 28 Miles of heating/chilled water piping continues
  • Slab reinforcement and concrete placement has continued on Level 8.
  • Decking has started to be laid on Levels 10&11.
  • Steel frame erection is up to roof level on the building’s south and west elevations, with completion of this stage within sight.

18 – 22 May 2015

  • Completion of steelwork erection to roof level on South-West corner as we head towards completion of this stage

11 – 15 May 2015

  • Large concrete placement made on Level 7 to complete this section.
  • Level 8 floor slab being laid ahead of the concrete pour next week.
  • Steel frame at roof level continued and is making good progress.
  • Work was completed on the reinforced concrete upstands supporting the trellis over Main Entry CAC1 roof.
  • Work on curtain wall of the Service CAC has commenced with east elevation panels being erected.

27 April – 08 May 2015

  • Metal decking being laid at level 11
  • Erection of the steel structure at roof level has commenced.
  • Consular CAC1 roof reinforcement is laid ahead of the concrete pour next week.

13 – 24 April 2015

  • Concrete pour on the Main Entry CAC1 roof placed leaving just the trellis structure to be completed.
  • Further progress on the steel frame at levels 10 & 11 with more columns now to Roof Level.
  • Framing and dry lining of partitions continued to progress well at Levels 1 to 3.
  • Further cladding panels have been installed on the South Elevation.

  • Further progress on the steel frame with some columns up to roof level.
  • First concrete pours on Level 6 have been cast.
  • Metal decking continues to be placed on Level 9

01 – 10 April 2015

  • Reinforced concrete walls from Main Entry – Mechanical levels continues.
  • Further progress on the steel frame through Level 11.
  • Metal decking now being placed on Level 9.
  • Reinforcement for the roof of consular CAC is making progress concrete pours planned next week.

23 – 27 March 2015

  • Steelwork for Levels 10 & 11 continues with further perimeter columns being erected
  • Work on reinforced concrete walls for Main Entry – Mechanical Level continues.
  • Casting and reinforcement of the Main CAC walls continues
  • Steel Framework to Level 6 is now complete.

16 – 20 March 2015

  • Perimeter columns along the south and east elevations are beign erected for Level 10 and Level 11 steelwork.
  • Upstand plinths around the perimeter of the service CAC roof structure continue to be cast.
  • Decking installation has started on floors 7 and 8.
  • Final east ramp pours are being cast.

09 – 13 March 2015

  • Erection of Level 10 and Level 11 Steel Frame to commence this week.
  • Final concrete pours to commence on the Service CAC roof slab this week.
  • Level 5 north slab section to be secured this week, with concrete pours scheduled for next week.

03 – 06 March 2015

  • Metal decking on level 7 is almost complete.
  • Service Consular Access Compound roof slab continues with concrete pours due later this week
  • Reinforcement of South section of Lvl 5 is completed ahead of concrete pours this week.
  • Roof reinforcement continued on parking garage below footprint of the Main Entry CAC in preparation for concrete pours to begin later this month.

23 – 27 February 2015

  • Steel frame moves closer to completion up to level 8.
  • Metal decking on Level 7 nearing completion.
  • Concrete pours are proceeding up to level 4.

16-20 February 2015

  • Concrete pours on 3rd floor completed.
  • Steel columns now evident through to 10th Floor.
  • Metal Decking on Floors 6 and 7 nearing completion.
  • Steel frame being secured through the 8th and 9th floor.
  • 4th floor slab nearing completion with 1st concrete pour due in early stages of this week

09-13 February 2015

  • Having broken the plane of Chancery level 9 – steel continues through floors 8 and 9 with perimeter beams now evident.
  • Concrete slab pours nears completion on Chancery level 3
  • Casting of east ramp roof slab complete
  • Metal decking on Level 6 nearing completion.

02 – 06 February 2015

  • Concrete Pours started on Chancery Level 3
  • South Ramp – Parking Level 1-Parking Level 2 Nearing Completion
  • Metal decking evident on Chancery Level 6

26th -30th January 2015

  • Construction of Steel Structure continues into floor 9
  • Concrete decks have been placed through floor 2
  • Mechanical, electrical and partition work is ongoing in the basement

  • Dec 2014 – Work began on Service and Consular Access Compound (CAC)
  • Dec 2014 – Level 1 Concrete slab done
  • Nov 2014 – Steel Frame complete to Level 4
  • Oct 2014 – Car Park Basement Slab complete
  • Oct 2014– Steel Frame complete to Level 3
  • Sept 2014 – Steel Frame complete Levels 1-2.
  • 06 September 2014 – Construction on Steel Frame Structure gets underway.
  • Aug 2014 – Chancery Entry Level Frame Complete
  • July 2014 – Slipform Complete
  • 21 May 2014 – Slipform construction begins
  • 04 April 2014 – Ambassador Barzun joins Mayor Boris Johnson, Joanna Lumley  and residents of nine elms at the Ballymore event commenting on the foundations and Special relationship the NLE offers. Video.
  • Mar 2014 – Basement excavation completed
  • Jan 2014 – Piling complete.  On 17 January 2014 Ambassador Barzun clarifies the position on our new Embassy building  “The new building project is being funded entirely by the proceeds of the sale of other U.S. Government properties in London, not through appropriated funds. This has always been the plan. The proposed Omnibus spending bill does not provide any new, additional, restrictions to that plan. ”

23 February 2010 – Winners of New U.S. Embassy Design contest announced!
U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Louis B. Susman, and Acting Director of the Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations, Adam Namm, announced today that KieranTimberlake of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania has won the design competition for the New London Embassy (NLE).

The U.S. State Department has entered into an agreement to sell the Chancery in London, located in Grosvenor Square.  The sale is to Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company headquartered in Doha, Qatar.  The agreement was signed for the United States by the U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Louis B. Susman.
